Have you ever considered become a Beachbody coach?

When I originally signed on to be a BeachBody coach it was solely as a discount coach. I knew I wanted my Shakeology, and a few of the BB programs so the 25% discount was perfect. But once I became part of Team Steel and saw how this amazing team was changing lives, I knew I wanted to do more. I love the company I love the products and the programs, seemed the logical leap to make. The extra income hasn’t hurt either.

21 Day Fix – Day 11!

21_day-fix

Time to play catch-up on my posts!  Day 11’s workout was Pilates. I think this is one of my favourite workouts. It’s considered an active recovery day, so not as intense as previous days, but still not giving you a complete rest day. Most of this workout focuses on abs. That’s certainly not a complaint.

21 Day Fix – Day 10!

21_day-fix

Day 10 and to day is Lower Fix, otherwise known as “leg day”.  Lots of lunges and squats incorporating weights. I have a love hate with leg day. I love what it will do for my legs in the long term, I hate what it will do tomorrow.

And now for the food!

Breakfast:

001Chocolate Shakeology (red container), water and  ice. Colour me surprised, right? 🙂

Snack #1:

004Greek yogurt (red container) and mixed berries (purple container).

Lunch:

004Baby spinach salad (2 green containers), honey dijon dressing (orange container). Note: there was no bacon or egg in the salad today. I goofed on when I thought I was going out for sushi and accounted for it today. Not actually going until next Wednesday. Didn’t take a picture, so you’ll have to imagine it with just salad and veggies. 🙂

Snack #2:

006Apple (purple container), peanut butter (2 tsps).

Dinner:

003Chicken paprikash! Chicken (red container), egg noodles (yellow container), broccoli (green container).

21 Day Fix – Day 9!

21_day-fix

Day 9’s workout was Upper Fix, which I’m grateful for as my legs are completely spent after Total Body Cardio Fix and so resting them is nice. Plus, I love working my arms. I’m hoping to sculpt them for sleeveless summer tops this season and I’m certain Autumn will deliver.

Here is a sneak peek!

Planning was crucial today because of my Birthday and I knew I was going out tonight. I think it was successful.

Breakfast:

001Chocolate Shakeology (red container), water and ice.

Snack #1:

003Greek yogurt (red container), mixed berries (purple container).

Lunch:

001Tuna sandwich (1 red, 1 yellow and 1/2 orange (for a dab of mayo)), baby carrots (green container) and hummus for dipping (blue container).

Snack #2:

006My trusty apple and peanut butter combo (purple container and 2 tsps).

Dinner:

1901463_10151930056751681_869712885_nThis was a great success for me for dinner out! Grilled salmon (red container), lots of grilled veggies (2 green containers). Doubled up on the veg and omitted the potato so I could have a glass of red wine with my meal (yellow container)! Sorry I started eating it before I took a picture. It looked so good! And it was.

Day 9 complete with a healthy birthday celebration!

21 Day Fix – Day 8!

21_day-fix

Today was official weigh in and the start of a brand new week! I am happy to report that I am officially down 2.2 pounds. While it may not sound like much, my scale hasn’t budged in months, so this is a giant win. Also, if the momentum keeps up I have the potential to lose about 7 pounds in the first 3 weeks.

Some things I’ve learned along the way. The first couple days are the hardest while you are adjusting to portion sizes. You may feel a little “off”, but once you do adjust (and you will), you do start feeling really good. And while the containers seem small at first, they really do hold a lot of food.

This program also makes you think, and I mean really think about food. Where you want to use the containers and how. For example, I know I am going out tomorrow night for my Birthday dinner, and I know I would like to enjoy a glass of wine with my meal. I also know that a glass of wine will cost me 1 yellow container leaving me with only 1. So the question becomes, where do I want to use it? Lunch? Dinner? I decided on lunch as I need the carbs to fuel me for the afternoon at work. I can skip it at dinner and have a salad or veggies in it’s place and be able to enjoy my wine.

The containers take a lot of guess work out of the food, but it still requires a bit of forethought and planning on your part.

The workouts are wonderful. I’m really enjoying all the weights. My muscles are sore, but in a good way. It’s a nice mix of different things, cardio, weights, yoga. It really incorporates everything.

So today was Total Body Cardio Fix, and nice mix of cardio, weights and working those abs. I feel this one for several days after.

Todays food!

Breakfast:

001Chocolate Shakeology (red container), water and ice.

Snack #1:

004Greek yogurt (red container) and mixed berries (purple container).

Lunch:

008Spinach salad. Baby spinach, onions and shredded carrot (2 green containers), 1 hard boiled egg and crumbled bacon (1 red container), honey dijon dressing (orange container), 12 raw almonds (blue container). Love this salad.

Snack #2:

006Apple (purple container) and 100% all natural peanut butter (2 tsps).

Dinner:

004Oven baked pork chop seasoned with a bit of oregano (red container), roasted brussels sprouts (green container), baby red potatoes (yellow container).

And that concludes Day 8!

21 Day Fix – Day 7!

21_day-fix

The last day of the first week! Tomorrow morning will be my weigh in.

Today’s workout on the schedule was Yoga Fix. When I ordered my program, it also came with Plyo Fix as a free bonus CD, but doesn’t include it on the regular schedule. So, being Sunday I thought it would be a prefect day to do a double workout and the two just seemed like they would be the prefect combo.

First was Plyo Fix. Plyometrics, also known as “jump training” or “plyos”, are exercises based around having muscles exert maximum force in as short a time as possible, with the goal of increasing both speed and power. Autumn breaks this workout down into 6 rounds, 2 exercises per round lasting 30 seconds per exercise with a 30 second break in between, repeated once.
At first I thought, YAY only 30 seconds each. Don’t be fooled, you will be gasping for air as you move from one explosive movement to another. And the dreaded burpees rear their ugly heads yet again. A great workout and calorie burner!

After giving myself  brief 10 minute cool off, I popped in Yoga Fix. 30 minutes of fluid movement stretching every part of the body. Heaven and a great way to finish off the first week!

And todays meals:

Breakfast:

001Chocolate Shakeology with water and ice. Shakeology (red container).

Snack #1:

001Today’s post workout snack was watermelon (purple container) and 12 raw almonds (blue container).

Lunch:

004Toasted BLT on Ezekiel bread and salad. Bacon (red container). Spring mix, carrots, radishes and the tomato for my sandwich (2 green containers). Bread (yellow container). And honey dijon dressing and a dab of mayo (1/2 orange container).

Snack #2:

006I wanted to use up the rest of my berries since I had to go to the store tonight, and I needed another protein. Enter Tropical Shakeology! Shakeology (red container), raspberries and blackberries (purple container), ice and water.

Dinner:

008Pork schnitzel (red container), baked potatoe (yellow container), spinach salad (green container), honey dijon dressing (1/2 orange container).

21 Day Fix – Day 6!

21_day-fix

Today’s workout was Dirty 30! This workout focuses mainly on strength training. Some of the workouts you will recognize from previous workouts, but most are new.

You will need a light set and a heavy set of weights (I use 7 and 10 lb), a yoga mat as there is some floor work and of course your water.

This workout targets just about every area from triceps, to glutes, to abs and every move incorporates a set of weights. Again, there are 4 rounds, 2 60 second exercises per round repeated once. And no bonus round this time. This workout will get you sweating and will challenge you. My only complaint is in some rounds the first move is standing and the second is on the floor. With only 20 seconds in between, it doesn’t give you a lot of time to get ready for the next move. Would have been nice to have standing grouped together and floor grouped together. So just be prepared for a quick transition.

Great workout overall, and I suspect I am going to feel it tomorrow!

Here is a sneak peak!

And now for the food! Just a brief reminder, I am allowed 4 red containers, 3 green containers, 2 purple containers, 2 yellow containers, 1 blue container and 1 orange container per day. And I almost goofed today! The perils of the weekend!

Breakfast:

001Went for the Greenberry Shakeology again today. I really do like it. Mixed with the Oasis Smoothie, the colour isn’t very appealing, though. Ha! Shakeology (red container), Oasis Smoothie (yellow container).

Snack #1:

003Some kiwi and pineapple (purple container), and greek yogurt (red container).

Lunch:

008The yummy salad from yesterday. I have a feeling this will show up a lot! Baby spinach, carrots and onions (2 green containers), 1 boiled egg and crumbled bacon (1 red container), honey dijon dressing (orange container) and 12 raw almonds (blue container).

Snack #2:

012Sliced cucumber (green container) sprinked with some Red Garlic Sansel (no added salt) from Epicure for flavour.

Dinner:

015Here is where I almost goofed! 2 eggs scrambled, 4 oz back bacon gave me 2 red containers. For some reason I thought I had to left, but right when sitting down to eat realize “OMG you only have one”. Easy solution, 1/2 my eggs and 1/2 my bacon went to my other half (much to his happiness) and I was back on track! hashbrowns (1 yellow container) and mixed fruit (purple container) rounded out my dinner.

Day 6 in the bag!

21 Day Fix – Day 5!

21_day-fix

Today’s workout was Cardio Fix!  30 minutes of intense, heart pumping, sweat pouring cardio.  The workout starts out with the usual warm up and then the cardio is broken into 4 rounds, 2 60 second exercises per round, repeated once. Sound familiar? You will elevating your heart rate with high knees, lunges and burpees. Oh yes, I said it. Burpees. 2 minutes of burpees.

And once you reach the end and are doing the last rep of the final exercise and think it’s finally over…BONUS round. And it’s all plank work. So make sure you have a towel or a mini mat handy for under your forearms. As Autumn says, bonus does not mean optional, so get down!
Overall, a great workout that will get you huffing and puffing!

And now for my food for today!

Breakfast:

001Today I decided to try Greenberry Shakeology. I had been hesitant up to now as it used to be coined “Assberry”, but they recently improved the flavour so I threw caution to the wind. And guess what? I really liked it. Two thumbs up! *phew*  Shakeology (red container). Oasis Smoothie (yellow container).

Snack #1:

002A mix of rasperries and blackberries (purple container) and 12 raw almonds (blue container). Simple.

Lunch:

004I think this will officially become a new favourite! Baby spinach, red onion and shredded carrots (2 green containers), 2 hard boiled eggs and crumbled bacon (2 red containers), honey dijon dressing (orange container).  All tossed together into one extremely delicious salad. I could eat this for days.

Snack #2:

006Apple (purple container), peanut butter (2 tsps).  Nothing to see here, moving on.

Dinner:

006I’ve been trying to get the other half to eat more seafood. He’s never been a fan, but says his tastebuds have been changing, so it’s game on! Tonights dinner was scallops (red container) with wild rice (yellow container) and steamed broccoli (green container).

And that officially completes Day 5!

21 Day Fix – Day 4!

21_day-fix

Today’s workout was Pilates Fix. This is fast becoming a favourite. She focuses a lot on abs and glutes, and that’s not an argument as they are problem areas for most of us, so a little extra attention is always welcome.

You will need a mat for this as it is all floor work. Again, there is a modifier for anyone new to Pilates or perhaps not as flexible or comfortable with the moves yet.  The routine is a little different in the sense that it is not set up in rounds like the previous workouts, and none of them are repeated. Also, the length of time differs for each one. You just move through different areas of focus.

An overall tough, but wonderful workout that is a nice “active rest day” for your body after all the weights!

And onto my food for Day 4!

Breakfast:

001No surprises here. It’s the only way for me to start the day. And yes, you’ve seen this picture before, and you will see it again.  Oh you will, and you’ll like it. Chocolate Shakeology (red container).

Snack #1:

004WHAT? Again? Yes, I’m a creature of habit. And it’s a delicious one. Greek yogurt (red container), mixed berries (purple container).

Lunch:

006Wait a minute… Yes. Leftovers. Stop judging me. Leftovers are my friend. Chicken fajitas and salad (red, yellow and 2 green containers, plus an orange container).

Snack #2:

006Remember? Creature of habit? Apple and peanut butter = one purple container and 2 tsps

Dinner:

001Steak, sweet potatoes and beans! Red container, yellow container and green container respectively. And 100% yum!

That’s rounds out my Day 4!  I also made a grocery run tonight so I’m stocked and ready to keep going!
